MFTV Interview: Unknown Mortal Orchestra at Homebake 2011

Having released their self-titled debut to critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork and NME, Unknown Mortal Orchestra are fast moving away from their name, as their profile grows around the world. Starting off when founding member of Mint Chicks Ruban Nielson decided to start making music again, UMO starting out as nothing more than a bandcamp page, the songs on display there soon grabbing the interest of blogs and other music media.

 

We caught up with Ruban at Homebake to talk about the band’s fast success, leaving the Mint Chicks and getting a real job as well as what the future holds for this Portland Oregon by way of Auckland based artist.
